Apple has bought a social media search and analytic startup Topsy.  It was reported by the Wall Street Journal that Apple paid over $200 million for Topsy.  Apple’s reason for the social revolved is for Ping, a music-centered social sharing network integrated for iTunes app.

"Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans," spokeswoman Kristin Huguet said.  Topsy has not respond back for comment.
